Ammrc Tr 68-02 the Fine Microstructure of Pyrolytic Graphite as Influenced by Boron
نویسنده
چکیده
A study of the fine rnicrostructure of boronated pyrolytic graphite was made utilizing optical and X-ray diffraction techniques. The influence of boron content on the laminar structure, the lattice parameter, the lattice strain, the particle size, and the flexural strength of pyrolytic graphite were studied. Significant changes in the behavior of all investigated parameters were observed in the 0.50 to 0.75 percent boron range. A mechanism relating these changes to the appearance of B^C deposit is hypothesized.

Ammrc Tr 68-17 Titanium Carbide Content Effect on Erosion in Cermet Rocket Nozzles
Analyses were carried out on subscale cermet nozzles fired in the AMMRC solid propellant engine at a designated maximum chamber pressure of 1100 psi for nominal burning times of 15 jeconds in order to determine mechanisms of erosion and the effect of the carbide constituent on erosion. The cermet class investigated consisted of an AISI Type 316 stainless steel matrix incorporating a hard phase ...
متن کاملRaman Spectroscopy of Carbon Materials : Structural Basis of Observed Spectra 557
The firstand second-order Raman spectral features of graphite and related sp2 carbon materials were examined with laser wavelengths ranging from 293 to 1064 nm. A wide range of carbon materials was considered, including highly ordered pyrolytic graphite (HOPG), powdered and randomly oriented graphite, and glassy carbon prepared at different heat-treatment temperatures. Of particular interest is...
متن کاملPhotoluminescence properties of pyrolytic boron nitride
We report on spectroscopic study of pyrolytic hBN (pBN) by means of time-and energy-resolved photoluminescence methods. A high purity of pBN samples (though low crystallinity) allows complementary information about excited states involved into the luminescence process. We affirm our recent conclusions about the impurity-related nature of most of the fluorescence bands in microcrystalline hBN. I...
متن کاملPyrolytic and non-pyrolytic boron nitride platforms in electrothermal AAS for the determination of cadmium in sea and estuarine water without chemical modification.
The analytical performance of pyrolytic and non-pyrolytic boron nitride (PBN and NBN) platforms, attached to a commercially available graphite tube furnace, in electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry (ETAAS) for Cd was studied. Although the tolerable pyrolysis temperature was 300 degrees C with the conventional pyrolytic graphite platform, it increased to 600 and 950 degrees C with the PB...
